MR. KANG

Henry graduated from the University of London and was called to the Malaysian Bar in 1995. He joined legal practice as a clerk in the 1970s and move on to the housing development sector in the 1980s. He started his first partnership of Radlan & Kang upon being called to the bar in 1995, and his second partnership of BC Tay and Kang merged with his present partnership of Arthur Lee & Co in 2001.

Conveyancing practice was the main stay of his early career; which gradually spread to the substantive law of conveyancing and banking. His interest in the substantive law leads to more active role in litigation. Though not active in court work, he has participated in trials at the High Court and appeals up to the Court of Appeal.

He is an ardent reader and writes occasionally. He regularly renders written opinion on area of law encompassing land, housing development and bank recovery.

He embraced new technology and was instrumental in setting up the first Johore Bar website whilst serving the IT Sub – Committee of the Johore Bar from 1999 to 2001.

He had served as a member of the Investigating Tribunal Panel, having been appointed by the Advocates & Solicitor’s Disciplinary Board under Section 97(2) of the Legal Profession Act, 1976 and now regularly chairs the Disciplinary Committee under the Advocates and Solicitors Disciplinary Board.

He is well versed in Islamic Banking, having been tasked with the drafting of an entire set of security documents for Bai Bithaman Ajil (BBA) facilities by a local Bank, in 2004.

He is also a Certified Mediator registered with the Mediation Centre, Bar Council of Malaysia.
